Before I can jump to the premise of why solid fragrances have an edge; I would like to tap into the predominant behavior of our brain to perceives smell compared to the other senses.
Unlike other senses which are processed by the cerebral cortex, where we process language and judgement, smells gets processed by the limbic system. The limbic system is where we store long term memories. As such, a particular smell triggers emotional responses and can also brings back memories of people, places and moments.
